“Your products are already beautiful. Now it’s time to make sure the right shoppers can find them and feel confident clicking Buy Now.”- Amy Lineberry
How to Get More Sales on Amazon Handmade
You've spent hours creating beautiful handmade products, set up your Amazon Handmade shop, and hit publish ... but the sales just aren't coming. If you're wondering how to get more sales on Amazon Handmade, the answer isn't to work harder, it's to work smarter. And I've got some strategies that will help more shoppers find your products and give them the confidence to click "Buy Now."
Everything below comes from my How to Improve Amazon Sales playlist on YouTube. Each strategy links to the full video, so you can dig deeper into whichever part of your shop needs the most love right now.
1. Get Found with Keywords and SEO
Shoppers can't buy what they can't find. Most Amazon shoppers start with the search bar, so the words you use in your listing decide whether your product shows up at all.
That means knowing what your customers actually type when they're looking for a product like yours, and putting those words in the right places: your title, your bullet points, your description, and your backend search terms. It also means avoiding the common mistakes that quietly hurt your visibility, like repeating the same words over and over or stuffing in terms that don't really describe your product.
2. Build a Strong Product Identity
Before a shopper ever sees your photos, Amazon needs to understand what you're selling. Your product identity is the foundation of your listing: the category you choose, your product title, and the details that tell Amazon (and shoppers) exactly what this item is.
Choosing the wrong category or leaving details blank can keep your product out of the searches it belongs in. In this video, I walk through how to set up a listing the right way, including how to choose your category, write a clear product title, and decide when variations make sense.
3. Use Photos That Stop the Scroll
Once your product shows up in search, your main image has one job: get the click. Shoppers can't pick up your product and turn it over in their hands, so your photos have to do that work for them.
Amazon has specific image requirements you need to follow, especially for your main image. Beyond the rules, the best handmade listings use their extra image slots to show scale, detail, the product in use, and any personalization options. I'll also show you how the offer section fits in, so your product looks just as good on the details page as it does in search.
4. Write Bullet Points and Descriptions That Sell
Great photos get the click. Your bullet points and description close the sale. This is where you answer the questions a shopper would ask you at a craft fair: What's it made of? How big is it? Can I personalize it? Will it make a good gift?
The goal is to keep it scannable and helpful, while still working in your keywords naturally. In this video, I share how to write bullet points that highlight what matters most, keep your description concise, and use variations to reach more shoppers.
5. Let Shoppers Get to Know You with Your Maker Profile
Here's something big-box sellers can't compete with: you. Your Maker Profile is a free spot on Amazon Handmade where shoppers can see who's behind the products, and it's one of the most underused tools in the program.
A complete profile with a great photo, branded images, and a story about you and your process builds the trust that turns a first-time buyer into a loyal customer. You can also feature your products right on your profile for free. This one's a quick win you can knock out in an afternoon.
6. Run Deals During the Biggest Shopping Season
Once your listings are in great shape, deals can give shoppers that extra nudge to buy, especially during Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Amazon gives you several options, including sale prices, coupons, Buy X Get Y promotions, price discounts, and Lightning Deals.
The good news? You don't need Brand Registry to run most of them. The key is choosing the right deal for your products and protecting your profit, so a sale actually helps your business instead of costing you money.
Bonus: Why Amazon Handmade Is Worth the Effort
If you're selling handmade products somewhere else and still on the fence about Amazon, or you need a reminder of why you started, this one's for you. Amazon is the largest online marketplace, and Amazon Handmade gives makers a dedicated program to reach those shoppers. In this video, I share how my own shop brought in over $50k in gross revenue in 2022.
