“A great product isn’t enough on Amazon—your listing is what gets you seen and what gets you sales.” - Amy Lineberry
If you’ve set up your Amazon Handmade shop but your products aren’t getting views, it’s not because your products aren’t good enough.
It’s because your listings aren’t optimized.
And don’t worry—this is one of the most common things I see when I look at shops. The good news? It’s fixable.
If you want to learn how to list handmade products on Amazon in a way that actually gets seen (and sells), these are the 5 elements you need to focus on.
Your photos are everything.
When someone searches on Amazon, they see three main things:
Your photo
Your title
Your price
And let’s be honest… we all click based on the photo first.
Your main image (the first photo) has to follow Amazon’s rules:
True white background
Only your product (no props, no text)
No mockups—real product only
Think about it like this: if someone can’t instantly tell what you’re selling, they’re not clicking.
You can absolutely add lifestyle photos (like your product in use)… just not as the first image.
Your title is the second thing shoppers look at, and this is where you need to be clear, not clever.
A strong title should:
Start with your brand name
Clearly say what the product is
Include key details (size, quantity, variation, etc.)
For example, instead of:
Cute planner stickers
You want something more like:
Stormy Creatives Planner Stickers – 45 Functional Icons, 2 Sheets
Amazon recommends staying under 200 characters, and honestly… shorter and clearer usually performs better anyway.
Once someone clicks your listing, your bullet points do the heavy lifting.
Amazon gives you up to 5 bullet points—use all of them.
This is where you:
Explain what your product is
Highlight key features
Answer common questions
Add important details you couldn’t fit in your title
For handmade sellers, this might include:
Materials used
How it’s made
Customization options
What’s included
Keep them easy to read. Don’t keyword-stuff them into a hot mess.
If a customer has to work to understand your product… they won’t buy it.
This is the part most people overlook—and it can absolutely tank your shop if it’s wrong.
Inside your offer settings, you control:
Price
Shipping setup
Production time
Here’s the big one:
If you leave production time blank, Amazon assumes your item is ready to ship immediately.
Which means:
👉 You could be expected to ship same day
👉 You risk late shipment issues
👉 Your account health can take a hit
Set a production time that actually works for you (like 2–4 days), so you’re not stressing every time an order comes in.
This is where the magic happens.
Amazon gives you a backend search term box where you can add keywords—similar to tags on Etsy, but better.
Instead of separate tags, you get:
👉 One big box
👉 Add keywords separated by spaces
👉 No commas needed
Tips for better search terms:
Don’t repeat words (Amazon already understands variations)
Don’t include your brand name
Avoid trademarked terms
Use related keywords (planner, journal, weekly, decorative, etc.)
You also get extra fields as a handmade seller like:
Style
Occasion
Use these. They help your product show up in more searches.
A good product isn’t enough on Amazon.
If your listing isn’t clear, optimized, and set up correctly… it’s going to get buried.
But when you get these 5 elements right?
That’s when you start getting views… and sales.
